This primer aims to respond to the glaring limited information regarding human rights and humanitarian laws especially those pertaining to children. This imbalance is all the more significant under conditions where our country is suffering from chronic poverty and armed conflict.
More than the need to promote the legal dimensions of child rights, this primer aims to also promote the need for translating children's rights into other languages such as affirmative programs, local legislation, policies and social values. While the former aims to increase children's awareness on their own rights, the latter aims to remind duty bearers that more needs to be done in improving the social, political and economic environment. It also aims to portray real time effects and consequences when child rights are not recognized, promoted and protected.
