The book "In the Shadows of Davao" compiles real life accounts of street girls who belong to all-girl gangs in Davao City. It narrates the ways and means of the girls to survive the city's hard life. The book also looks into the children's problems such as their difficulties in relationships with their family, drug abuse, prostitution, abuse in the justice system, street killings, and violence. It also narrates how mothers and loved ones of the children who have been summarily executed by the Davao Death Squad have come to terms with their deaths.
